Mexican Tobacco by Ibrahim Al Qurashi: Dark Chocolate, Cinnamon and Warm Tobacco

Mexican Tobacco belongs to the tobacco series from Ibrahim Al Qurashi, the Saudi perfume house founded in Makkah in 1929. Each fragrance in the series takes its character from tobacco grown in a different country, and the Mexican edition is the darkest and most gourmand of the line.

It opens on cedarwood and dark chocolate, dry wood against bitter cocoa, which keeps the sweetness grounded from the first spray. Lilac and cinnamon fill the heart, adding a floral warmth and a gentle spice that stops the chocolate from turning heavy. The base is where it earns the name. Amber and Mexican tobacco settle in with a soft touch of rose, warm and rich without ever becoming smoky or harsh.

As an Eau de Parfum it projects well for the first couple of hours and then wears warm and close for the rest of the day. Two or three sprays is enough.

This is a cold-weather evening scent first. If you like chocolate and tobacco together, in the style of cocoa-led orientals, this is the one to try from the series. It is unisex and works equally well either way.
