Violet is a difficult note. Push it too far and a fragrance turns to talcum powder and old-fashioned sweets. Delilah Viola gets the balance right, and that is what makes it worth your attention.
It opens bright and genuinely juicy. Mandarin and bergamot arrive first with real citrus sparkle, then peach and pear fill it out with a soft, fleshy sweetness. The first ten minutes are luminous and fresh, and if you stopped there you would think you were wearing a fruity summer scent. You are not.
The heart is where the name earns itself. Violet blooms, powdery and slightly sweet, wrapped in lily of the valley and lilac with a thread of lavender running underneath. This is the elegant part.
