Ameerat Al Arab Sugar Crown by Lattafa 100ml EDP
The name tells you almost everything. Sugar Crown is unapologetically sweet, and it does not spend a second pretending otherwise.
It opens on candied fruits with bitter orange and lemon slicing across the top. That citrus is doing important work. Without it the sugar would be overwhelming from the first spray, and instead you get something bright and vivid, closer to a sweet shop window than a dessert.
The heart is where it becomes properly distinctive. A bubble gum accord arrives, and yes, it smells exactly like you would expect, pink and nostalgic and grinning. But Lattafa has built it into something more interesting than a novelty. Bulgarian rose gives it a genuine floral spine, peach and blueberry add juicy depth, and ginger and cinnamon thread a faint warmth underneath that keeps the whole thing from turning flat.
That combination, sweet candy sitting on real rose, is what makes Sugar Crown worth a second look. Plenty of fragrances smell like sweets. Very few of them also smell like perfume.
The base pulls it back to earth. Ambroxan gives it reach and a slightly mineral clarity, cedar adds dry woodiness, and musk softens everything into a warm, clean finish. It stops the fragrance in exactly the right place, so what lingers on your skin hours later is sweet rather than sugary.
Expect strong presence for the first couple of hours and a soft, warm trail after that. It clings well to knitwear and scarves.
This is a young, cheerful, feminine fragrance, and it knows its audience. Spring and autumn suit it best, and it works far better in daylight than at a formal dinner. Two to three sprays. It is more than capable of filling a room if you let it.
Buy it if you want something that makes you smile. Skip it if you want subtle.
