Legacy is the sophisticated sweet one: cinnamon and cardamom warming an orange-blossom opening, bourbon vanilla at the core, and a praline-kissed woody base. Rich, rounded and built to be remembered.
Inspired By
Bujairami’s own listing states that Legacy is inspired by Parfums de Marly Althaïr. That is the manufacturer’s stated reference, published on their own site.
Althaïr launched in 2023. Parfums de Marly do not sell it in 100ml: it comes in 75ml, 125ml and 200ml, priced at £225 for 75ml at Selfridges and £270 for 125ml at Harrods. Legacy is £37.99.
What the original is built from. Althaïr is published as cinnamon, orange blossom, cardamom and bergamot over bourbon vanilla and elemi, on praline, musk, ambroxan, tonka, guaiac wood and candied almond. Parfums de Marly’s own site gives a shorter and differently arranged list, moving elemi to the top and cinnamon and cardamom to the heart, and adding mandarin. Where the two disagree we have followed the fuller version, and we are telling you they disagree rather than quietly picking one.
A matching note list is not a matching smell. Althaïr’s almond and vanilla are smoother and the spice is better integrated. Legacy is sweeter and the cinnamon sits further forward in the opening. It is a close, well-made interpretation at a fraction of the cost, not a replacement bottle.
Two clarifications worth making. First, Bujairami describe the reference as “Althair Extrait”. Parfums de Marly have never released an extrait of Althaïr: it exists only as an Eau de Parfum. The “Extrait de Parfum” on our bottle is Bujairami’s own concentration. Second, there is a genuine Althaïr flanker, Althaïr Exclusif, launched in 2026 and also an eau de parfum, not an extrait. Legacy is modelled on the original rather than the Exclusif.
The comparison refers to the scent profile only. This is Bujairami’s own composition, in its own bottle and its own packaging, which are distinct from the original in every respect. French Avenue Liquid Brun follows the same original as an eau de parfum and is the better-known and better-balanced of the two, at £27.49. Legacy is the extrait, so it runs denser and lasts longer. The spices are measured, not fiery, letting the orange blossom glow through. Vanilla and elemi give the heart a resinous smoothness, and the guaiac-praline base adds a gently smoky sweetness that lasts for hours.
Performance
A spiced vanilla at extrait strength will comfortably outlast the day and see out the evening, projecting warmly for the first few hours. Best from autumn through early spring. As with any fragrance, exact performance varies with skin type and weather.
