Jouri is Lattafa’s 2026 fruity floral, and it opens on something you rarely see in Arabian perfumery: pitahaya, better known as dragon fruit. Orange and candied cherry sit alongside it, a soft floral heart of peony, frangipani, raspberry and water lily follows, and it settles into vanilla, tonka and patchouli. The rose that isn’t there

Worth knowing before you buy, because the name sets an expectation the fragrance deliberately does not meet. Jouri is the Arabic word for the Damask rose, the most revered flower in Middle Eastern perfumery. There is no rose in this composition at all.

What Lattafa has done instead is build the idea of a rose out of other materials. Peony carries the airy, petal-like quality, frangipani supplies the creamy richness, and water lily adds the dewy freshness. The result reads as floral and feminine in the way a rose fragrance does, without ever smelling like one. If you came here wanting an actual rose scent, this is not it, and it is better to know that now than on delivery.

What it smells like

The opening is playful and sugar-dusted. Pitahaya brings a tropical, slightly unusual fruitiness, orange sparkles over the top, and candied cherry adds a syrupy sweetness that leans deliberately confectionery. It announces itself immediately.

The heart softens considerably. Peony leads with an airy, luminous quality, frangipani warms it with a creamy tropical floral, raspberry echoes the fruit from the opening, and water lily threads something cool and watery through the middle. This is the most wearable phase and the one most people fall for.

The dry down is where it turns comforting. Vanilla brings a smooth sweetness, tonka rounds the edges, and patchouli adds just enough earthy depth to stop it becoming a plain sugar scent. Owners describe the finish as tropical flowers over vanilla, and it stays close to the skin.

Sample before you commit

We would say this about few fragrances, but Jouri earns it. The opening divides people sharply. Most find it joyful and get compliments on it. A minority report something musky or off in the first few minutes, with pitahaya the likely culprit, and the reaction is strong enough that at least one experienced wearer described it as not a safe blind buy unless you already love unusual fruity florals.
