Rose de Mai is a straight rose fragrance, built around the May rose and kept deliberately clean. No oud, no spice, no smoke. Just rose, done softly.
What it smells like
It opens as a bouquet rather than a single flower, fresh and full. The heart adds a green, dewy quality that reads like a garden early in the morning rather than a bottled rose oil.
Soft musk and creamy woods close it gently and give it staying power without adding weight. The whole thing stays light from start to finish.
A note on May rose
Rose de Mai, the Centifolia rose grown around Grasse, is one of perfumery’s most expensive materials and is prized for a softer, honeyed character quite different from the sharper Damask rose used in most Arabian rose fragrances. This is a fresh, green reading of that style.
When to wear it
Spring and summer daytime. Light and clean enough for an office, and it suits warm weather where heavier roses do not.
Who is it for?
Marketed for women. Anyone who finds traditional rose-and-oud combinations too heavy will find this the gentler alternative.
