What it smells like

The opening is brighter than the name suggests. Bulgarian rose arrives first, fresh and slightly green rather than jammy, with violet giving it a powdery edge and a touch of strawberry adding fruit without turning it sweet. It reads as a rose fragrance from the first spray, and a well-mannered one.

The heart narrows to Turkish rose alone. This is the deeper, more honeyed of the two rose materials, and having it stand on its own is what gives the middle of the wear its richness. There is no competing floral, no spice pulling focus.

The base is where the oud finally appears, and it is a soft agarwood rather than a medicinal one. Vanilla and benzoin give it body, caramel brings a light gourmand sweetness, and cedar keeps a dry woody line running underneath so it does not become a dessert.
