Virtus by Riiffs 100ml Extrait De Parfum
Virtus is the clean one, and an extrait de parfum rather than an eau de parfum, so the concentration does a lot of the work. A fresh-spicy opening of ginger, bergamot and cardamom gives way to a soft white floral heart of orange blossom, neroli and lily of the valley, and it finishes on musk, Clearwood and Ambroxan. Where a lot of fresh masculines go sharp and disappear by lunchtime, this one keeps a warm woody-musky spine underneath, which is why it reads groomed rather than sporty.

What it smells like
The opening is bright and gently spiced. Bergamot gives the citrus lift, ginger adds a dry warmth rather than heat, and cardamom sits between the two with that slightly green, aromatic quality that stops the citrus feeling like a cologne.
The heart is where it turns elegant. Orange blossom and neroli come from the same tree but behave differently, the blossom richer and more honeyed, the neroli greener and cooler, and together they give a clean white floral that never tips into soapy. Lily of the valley adds a dewy transparency that keeps the whole thing light on the skin.
The dry down is modern and close. Musk gives a soft skin-like warmth, Ambroxan a mineral, slightly salty depth, and Clearwood a smooth woody finish. This is the part people notice at close range, and it lasts considerably longer than the opening suggests.
