Absolute Leather puts leather at the very top rather than saving it for the base, which is unusual and sets the tone immediately. Leather and ginger open it, jasmine and osmanthus soften the middle, and it finishes on olibanum, labdanum and patchouli. Bold, resinous and more refined than the name suggests.

Absolute Leather is widely presented as an interpretation of Carolina Herrera Stallion Leather, and that attribution is consistent across independent retailers rather than coming from one source. It shares the bold leather with floral softening and a resinous finish. It remains its own composition. What it smells like
The opening is confident. Leather arrives immediately, rich and slightly velvety rather than raw or animalic, and ginger cuts across it with a dry spiced heat. Most leather fragrances build to this; here you get it from the first spray.
The heart is the surprise. Jasmine brings a white floral warmth and osmanthus, the flower that smells of apricot and soft leather at the same time, bridges the florals and the leather beautifully. It is an intelligent pairing and it stops the fragrance being one-dimensional.
The base is where it earns the word absolute. Olibanum, better known as frankincense, gives a resinous smoky depth, labdanum adds balsamic amber warmth, and patchouli brings earthiness. The finish is dark and lingering without turning harsh.
