Just Aswad is a dark aromatic fougère built on spice and woods. Nutmeg, cardamom, cinnamon and grapefruit open it, lavender forms the heart, and it settles into liquorice, sandalwood, amber, patchouli and vetiver. Bold, dry and considerably more serious than its price suggests.
The name is misleading, and that matters
Aswad means black in Arabic, and the name invites comparison with a well known Lattafa release. Wearers who have tried both say the comparison does not hold: from the first spray this sits far closer to Dior Sauvage Elixir, and the note structure backs them up. Spiced cardamom and nutmeg over lavender, finishing on liquorice and dry woods, is that composition’s signature.
So buy it for what it is. If you want the Lattafa fragrance the name gestures at, this is not it. If you want a spiced lavender and liquorice fougère at a fraction of designer pricing, it does that convincingly. What it smells like
