Description
Musk and Leather by Ahmed Al Maghribi 100ml Eau De Parfum
Musk and Leather is one of the more quietly clever releases in Ahmed Al Maghribi’s Occidental line. The name promises something rugged and traditional, and then the opening delivers almost the opposite: a bright rush of orchard fruit. Only once that fades does the leather arrive, wrapped in honey and softened by cacao and vanilla. It is a fruity leather rather than a smoky one, and that difference is exactly what makes it wearable in situations where a classic leather scent would feel far too heavy.
Fragrance notes
Top notes: apricot, raspberry, cranberry
Heart notes: honey, leather, papyrus, agarwood
Base notes: cacao, vanilla, musk, patchouli, amber
This is the composition as published by Ahmed Al Maghribi Perfumes itself, and it is corroborated by the independent fragrance databases. We list the house pyramid rather than a retailer summary, because the shortened versions of this fragrance in circulation vary considerably and several of them drop the fruit entirely.
What it smells like
The first few minutes are unmistakably fruity. Apricot leads, plump and slightly jammy, with raspberry and cranberry adding a tart edge that stops it turning syrupy. It reads as a warm fruit compote rather than a fresh fruit basket, cooked rather than juicy.
Within about twenty minutes the heart begins to show. Honey arrives first and acts as the bridge, because it shares the fruit’s sweetness while carrying a waxy, faintly animalic quality that leads naturally into leather. The leather here is supple and worn in rather than raw and tarry, closer to the inside of a good handbag than to a saddlery. Papyrus adds a dry, papery texture underneath, and agarwood sits deep in the mix contributing resinous weight rather than the medicinal punch a heavy oud composition would give you.
The dry down is where it settles into something genuinely comforting. Cacao brings a dusty, bittersweet edge that keeps the vanilla from becoming dessert. Musk smooths everything into a single skin close texture, and patchouli and amber give it warmth and staying power. Several hours in you are left with soft leather, cocoa and musk, and it is very easy to like.
Longevity, projection and when to wear it
This is a moderate performer rather than a room filling one. Expect it to sit reasonably close to the skin after the opening hour, with a trail that people notice when they are near you rather than across the room. Community ratings on Parfumo place its longevity above average, though the sample size there is small, so treat that as a guide rather than a guarantee.
Autumn and winter suit it best, and it is at its most flattering in the evening when the honey and cacao have some warmth to work with. It is also perfectly reasonable in an office, precisely because it stays close. If you want more presence from it, apply to clothing as well as skin.
Who will love it
Anyone who finds classic leather fragrances too austere should start here. It is also a strong choice if you already enjoy gourmand scents and want to move towards something with more structure without giving up the sweetness. Ahmed Al Maghribi does not assign a gender to this one, and the independent databases list it for women and men alike. In practice the fruit and cacao read slightly sweet while the leather reads slightly stern, and the two balance into something genuinely unisex.
About Ahmed Al Maghribi
Ahmed Al Maghribi Perfumes was founded in 2000 by Kafeel Ahmed, who moved to the United Arab Emirates from Mumbai and built the business from a single shop into one of the largest perfume retailers in the Gulf. The company now runs well over 180 branches across the GCC, manufactures at its own plant in Ajman and distributes internationally. It marked its twenty fifth anniversary in 2025.
The house is best known for traditional Arabian perfumery, oud, bakhoor and concentrated oils, but it also runs a Western style spray range that it labels Occidental Fragrance. Musk and Leather belongs to that range, which explains why it is built more like a European fruity leather than a traditional Middle Eastern attar.
How to get the best from it
Two or three sprays are plenty. Apply to the neck and the inside of the wrists without rubbing, since rubbing crushes the top notes and shortens the fruity opening you paid for. A single spray onto a scarf or a jacket lining will extend the trail considerably, because leather and musk notes cling well to fabric. Keep the bottle away from direct sunlight and out of bathroom humidity and it will hold its character for years.
