Description

Alora by Ard Al Zaafaran is one of the fullest compositions in the house’s range, with twelve notes doing real work rather than padding a list. Stone fruit and lavender open it, a dense floral and raspberry heart carries the middle, and it lands on vanilla, caramel and a surprising mossy green base. Sweet and fruity at the top, considerably more structured underneath than most fragrances in this bracket.

The opening is ripe and slightly unusual. Plum and peach arrive together with a soft, juicy stone-fruit sweetness, orange lifts them with citrus brightness, and lavender cuts across the whole thing with a cool herbal edge that stops the fruit becoming jammy. Lavender in a fruity floral is an unconventional choice and it is what makes the opening memorable.

Fragrance Profile

The heart is busy and it works. Orange blossom and jasmine give a creamy white floral fullness, raspberry adds a tart red-fruit sparkle over the top, lily of the valley keeps it dewy, and patchouli sits underneath adding an earthy darkness that most fruity florals at this price never bother with.

The base is the part that lifts it. Vanilla and caramel bring the gourmand sweetness you would expect, and then oakmoss and vetiver pull in completely the opposite direction with an earthy green bitterness. That contrast between caramel and moss is unusual, and it is why Alora dries down drier and more interesting than it opens.

A note on comparisons

We are not naming a designer original for this one. Alora has no settled community comparison, and the only similarity anyone has recorded is to a musk fragrance rather than to a famous release.

That is worth stating plainly rather than attaching a flattering name to it. Judge it on the note list above, which is more detailed than most in this range anyway. If you are specifically shopping for an affordable take on a well-known scent, our inspired fragrances collection is the better starting point.

When to wear it

Autumn and spring suit it best. The caramel and vanilla want cooler air while the orange and raspberry keep it from being heavy, and the mossy base helps it hold up better in mild heat than a pure gourmand would. It works for daytime and evenings, and the projection is moderate enough for the office.

Two or three sprays.

Who it is for

Generally worn as a feminine fragrance. It suits you if you like fruity florals but want something with more going on than fruit and sugar, if stone fruit appeals, or if you want a gourmand that does not finish sweet.

It suits you less if you want something simple and immediately readable, because this one is busy, and less again if oakmoss and vetiver read as old-fashioned to you.

The plum and peach opening places it in our fruity collection, while the vanilla and caramel base connects it to our sweet and gourmand range. The floral heart sits in our floral edit, and everything aimed this way is in women’s perfumes. For another busy fruity floral from the house, try Barez.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does Alora smell like?

Ripe plum and peach with bright orange and cool lavender, opening onto orange blossom, raspberry, jasmine and patchouli, settling into vanilla, caramel, musk, oakmoss and vetiver. Fruity and sweet at first, earthier and drier later.

Is it very sweet?

At the start and through the heart, yes. The oakmoss and vetiver in the base pull it dry though, so it finishes less sweet than it begins.

Is it a women’s fragrance?

It is generally worn that way, though the lavender in the opening and the mossy base give it more backbone than most fruity florals.

What makes it different from other fruity florals?

Two things: lavender in the opening, which almost nothing else in this style uses, and oakmoss and vetiver in the base where you would normally expect more sugar.

How long does it last?

Expect six to eight hours on skin with moderate projection, and longer on clothing thanks to the musk and oakmoss base.

Is this bottle genuine?

Yes. Every bottle at Perfumeo is 100% authentic, factory sealed and sourced through authorised distributors.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are your fragrances 100% genuine?
Yes. Every fragrance we sell is authentic, brand-new and factory-sealed, sourced from authorised suppliers. We never sell testers, refills or imitations — each bottle is batch-coded so you can verify it.
How fast is delivery?
We offer free tracked UK delivery on every order. Orders placed before 2pm on a working day are dispatched the same day, and typically arrive within 2–3 working days.
How long will the scent last?
Longevity varies by fragrance and skin type. You can see our guidance for this scent in the Fragrance Profile above — richer amber, oud and gourmand scents generally last longest, while fresh and citrus styles are lighter.
How should I store my perfume?
Keep it away from direct sunlight, heat and humidity — a cool, dark drawer or cupboard is ideal. Stored well, a sealed fragrance keeps its quality for years.
