Bujairami Too Damn Good 100ml Extrait de Parfum
The name sets a high bar and the scent clears it. Too Damn Good pairs tart blackcurrant with a rich praline heart, then anchors all that sweetness with dark amber and dry woods so it never tips into dessert territory.
Inspired By
Bujairami’s own listing states that Too Damn Good is inspired by Byredo Bal d’Afrique Absolu. That is the manufacturer’s stated reference, published on their own site.
The correct full name of the original is Bal d’Afrique Absolu de Parfum. It launched in 2025, composed by Jérôme Epinette, and sells at £270 for 100ml at Liberty London and Cult Beauty. Too Damn Good is £37.99.
This is the important part, and almost nobody gets it right. The Absolu is not a stronger version of the original Bal d’Afrique. It is a different composition. The original Bal d’Afrique eau de parfum, from 2009, is built on bucchu, African marigold, lemon and neroli over jasmine and violet, on black amber, Moroccan cedarwood, musk and vetiver. The Absolu is blackcurrant, bergamot and lemon over praline, musk and violet, on black amber, cedarwood and vetiver. The praline and blackcurrant in the Absolu do not appear in the original at all.
So if you have come here searching for a Bal d’Afrique dupe expecting the classic 2009 fragrance, this is not it. Too Damn Good follows the Absolu: sweeter, with a praline heart, and darker in the base. That distinction matters enough that we would rather lose the sale than have you buy the wrong thing.
On the word “extrait”. Bujairami’s own title describes the reference as “Bal d’Afrique Absolu Byredo – Extrait”. Byredo call their higher-concentration tier Absolu de Parfum, not extrait, and there is no Bal d’Afrique Extrait. The “Extrait de Parfum” on our bottle is Bujairami’s own concentration.
A matching note list is not a matching smell. The Byredo Absolu has a smoother praline and a cleaner, more resinous amber base. Too Damn Good runs sweeter early on and its praline is more confectionery than nutty. It is a close, well-made interpretation at a seventh of the price, not a replacement bottle.
The comparison refers to the scent profile only. This is Bujairami’s own composition, in its own bottle and its own packaging, which are distinct from the original in every respect. It opens fruity and bright, but give it twenty minutes: the praline swells, violet adds a soft powdery edge, and the vetiver-cedar base pulls everything back towards sophisticated. Sweet, but grown-up sweet.
Performance
Gourmands tend to be the longest-lasting fragrances you can buy, and at extrait strength this one comfortably sees out a full day and evening. It really shines in autumn and winter air. As with any fragrance, exact performance varies with skin type and weather.
