Description
Lattafa Asad 100ml Eau De Parfum
Lattafa Asad is the fragrance that made the house a household name outside the Gulf. Launched in 2021, it opens on black pepper, tobacco and pineapple, moves through coffee, patchouli and iris, and settles into a base of vanilla, amber, dry woods, benzoin and labdanum. Asad means lion in Arabic, and the fragrance wears like one.
Lattafa Asad fragrance notes
- Top: Black pepper, tobacco, pineapple
- Heart: Patchouli, coffee, iris
- Base: Vanilla, amber, dry wood, benzoin, labdanum
What does Lattafa Asad smell like?
The opening is bold but not blunt. Black pepper arrives spiced and dry rather than harsh, tobacco brings an immediate warmth most fragrances save for the base, and pineapple cuts across both with a sweet tang. Pineapple over tobacco is an unusual pairing and it is what stops the first few minutes feeling heavy.
The heart is the reason people keep the bottle. Coffee arrives rich and slightly syrupy, patchouli adds an earthy depth underneath, and iris threads a cool powdery elegance through the middle that keeps the whole thing sophisticated rather than simply strong. Coffee and iris together is a genuinely clever combination at this price.
The dry down is where it earns the comparisons it gets. Amber gives a resinous glow, vanilla a creamy sweetness, benzoin and labdanum a balsamic richness, and dry woods hold it all together. Wearers describe the transition as moving from spicy-sweet to woody and back to sweet, and it clings to clothing for a long time.
Inspired by, and an honest note about it
Lattafa Asad is widely described as an interpretation of Dior Sauvage Elixir, and that comparison is made more often than for almost any other Arabian fragrance.
Here is the part nobody mentions. The two note lists have almost nothing in common. Sauvage Elixir is built on cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom, grapefruit, lavender and liquorice over sandalwood and vetiver. Asad is built on black pepper, tobacco, pineapple, coffee and iris over amber and benzoin. They share patchouli and amber, and that is close to all. One reviewer put it plainly, asking how a clone could be made from entirely unrelated notes.
What they do share is an effect: dense, spicy-sweet warmth with a resinous finish. So treat the comparison as a description of the impression rather than the formula. If you want Sauvage Elixir, buy Sauvage Elixir. If you want a powerful spiced coffee and tobacco fragrance in its own right, Asad is excellent. Perfumeo is not affiliated with or endorsed by Parfums Christian Dior, and all brand names remain the property of their respective owners.
Lattafa Asad longevity and projection
Generally strong, with reports clustering around six to eight hours on skin and many wearers getting considerably more. One long-time owner reported eight hours on a first wearing rising to beyond ten with heavy projection once the bottle had settled. Clothing holds it far longer again.
A minority report the opposite, finding both projection and longevity weak. That gap usually comes down to skin chemistry and to how new the bottle is, since Lattafa fragrances commonly improve after a few weeks of settling. Two to three sprays are plenty, and spraying a collar or scarf is the most reliable way to get a full day from it.
When to wear it
Autumn and winter, and evenings above all. The coffee, tobacco and amber want cool air around them, and in real heat the composition amplifies and can become heavy. It suits nights out, dinners and occasions where you want to be noticed, and it works for colder daytime wear with a lighter hand.
Who is it for?
Lattafa markets Asad to men and it reads that way: dark, spiced and confident. The sweetness and the powdery iris mean plenty of women wear it too, and it is often shared. It suits anyone who wants presence from a fragrance rather than something quiet.
It will not suit you if you prefer fresh or light scents, or if coffee and tobacco notes have not worked for you before.
The Asad line compared
Four releases, four directions, and they are genuinely different rather than variations on one idea.
The original Asad is the spicy-sweet benchmark and the best value of the four. Asad Bourbon is the sweetest, built on cacao, davana and bourbon vanilla, and the most office-friendly. Asad Zanzibar is the fresh one, with coconut water and salt for warm weather. Asad Elixir is the darkest and longest-wearing of them.
Want to compare them properly? The Asad Set of 4 gives you all four in 25ml, and the 2ml sample is the cheapest way to test this one on your own skin first.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does Lattafa Asad smell like? Spiced black pepper, warm tobacco and tangy pineapple opening into rich coffee, earthy patchouli and powdery iris, then settling on vanilla, amber, dry woods, benzoin and labdanum. Bold, warm and slightly sweet.
What is Lattafa Asad a dupe of? It is commonly compared to Dior Sauvage Elixir, though the two note lists share almost nothing. The resemblance is in the overall impression of dense spicy-sweet warmth rather than in the composition.
How long does Lattafa Asad last? Commonly six to eight hours on skin, with many wearers reporting longer and strong projection in the opening hours. It lasts considerably longer on clothing.
What does Asad mean? Lion, in Arabic. The name suits the fragrance, which is built around presence rather than subtlety.
Is Lattafa Asad only for men? It is marketed to men and reads masculine, but the sweetness and powdery iris make it comfortable on anyone who enjoys bold warm fragrances.
Which Asad should I buy first? The original, for value and versatility. Choose Bourbon if you want it sweeter, Zanzibar for warm weather, or Elixir if you want the darkest and longest-wearing.
