Oud Mystery by Brandy Prestige: Passion Fruit, Rose and Amber
Oud Mystery takes an unusual route into oud. Rather than opening on saffron and wood the way most Arabian ouds do, it leads with passion fruit, bright and tart, with rose and saffron arriving alongside it. Fruit against oud is a modern idea and a divisive one, and this is a confident version of it.
The heart brings benzoin and patchouli in to steady things, with lily adding a clean floral thread. By the base the fruit has gone entirely and you are left with labdanum, amber and vanilla, resinous and warm.
The name promises more agarwood than the composition delivers, which is worth knowing. This sits closer to a fruity amber than to a traditional oud, and it is better for it.

How it wears
Extrait concentration gives the fruit opening real staying power, which matters here because passion fruit is a volatile note that disappears fast in weaker formulations. Expect it to hold for the first hour before the resinous base takes over for the rest of the day.
Cooler weather suits the base, but the fruit keeps it wearable in milder conditions too. Two sprays.
Who it suits
Anyone curious about oud who has found traditional versions too medicinal or smoky. The fruit and rose here make it approachable in a way that a saffron-and-agarwood composition is not.
