Egoiste by Brandy Prestige: Citrus, Herbs and Dry Amber
Egoiste is the sharpest thing in the Prestige range and the closest Brandy comes to a classic barbershop fougère. Bergamot and lemon open it clean, mint adds a cooling bite, and for the first few minutes it is properly bracing.
The heart is where the herbal character develops. Lavender, verbena and thyme together give it an aromatic, almost Mediterranean quality, dry and green rather than sweet. This is the sort of structure that used to define men’s fragrance before everything turned sugary.
What keeps it modern is the base. Dry amber and musk give it warmth without weight, and the unusual choice of grapefruit peel down at the bottom means a thread of citrus bitterness runs all the way through rather than disappearing after ten minutes.

How it wears
Citrus and herbal materials are the most volatile in perfumery, which makes the extrait concentration genuinely useful here rather than just a marketing tier. Expect the fresh phase to hold for well over an hour before the amber base takes over.
Warm weather suits it best, and it is one of the few in the Prestige line you can wear to an office in summer without imposing on anyone.
Who it suits
Anyone who finds modern fragrances too sweet. There is no gourmand element here at all, which makes it unusual in this range and a useful counterweight if the rest of your wardrobe is vanilla and amber.
