Description

Asad Polar is the newest chapter in Lattafa’s best known masculine line, and the one that goes somewhere nobody expected. Where the original Asad is dark, spiced and built for winter nights, Polar takes the same confidence somewhere colder and cleaner: alpine air, frost on evergreen, a fresh aromatic eau de parfum that still carries the weight the Asad name promises.

The scent, note by note

The opening is bracing. Artemisia brings a cool herbal bitterness, mandarin lifts it with juice and light, and blackcurrant adds a tart, almost green sharpness underneath. Violet leaf pushes it further towards crushed stems and cold air, while a touch of nutmeg keeps a thread of the Asad family’s spice running through it. It reads clean without ever reading like soap.

The heart is where it earns its name. Frosted pineapple is the signature move, and it is nothing like the sweet tropical fruit you are bracing for. Chilled and slightly sharp, it sits against white lavender, which is softer and more powdery than ordinary lavender, while cashmeran adds the smooth woody hum that holds the whole middle together.

The base is the warmest part of a cold fragrance. Fir balsam gives genuine evergreen resin, the smell of a forest after snow rather than a Christmas candle. Cedarwood adds dry structure, and dry amber brings a low, skin-close warmth that keeps Polar from feeling austere by the end of the day.

How it wears

Expect strong performance from a fresh fragrance. The aromatic opening is loud for the first hour, then it settles into a closer, woodier trail that stays with you through the day and lingers on clothing well after. Two sprays is usually enough, and one indoors.

It is at its best in cold, dry air, which is exactly what it was built for. It also works far better in spring and early autumn than the original Asad ever did, so it fills a genuine gap in the range.

Who it is for

Asad Polar suits anyone who likes the idea of Asad but finds the original too heavy, too sweet, or too much for daytime. It is the one to reach for at the office, in the gym bag, or on a bright cold morning when a spiced amber would feel like overkill.

It also suits people who normally wear fresh designer aromatics and want something with more character and more staying power than the usual blue bottle.

Getting the best from it

Apply to the chest and the back of the neck rather than the wrists, where fragrance rubs off fastest. One spray on a coat or scarf will carry far longer than anything on skin, which matters with a fresh composition like this one.

Give a new bottle two to four weeks before you judge it. Arabian fragrances often round out as they macerate, and the artemisia in particular softens. Keep it stored properly, away from heat and light, to protect the citrus at the top.

Where it sits in the range

The Asad line now covers four very different directions, and Polar is the coldest point on the map.

  • Asad is the original: black pepper, pineapple and tobacco over coffee, amber and vanilla. Dark, spiced and built for winter.
  • Asad Elixir is the most intense, with saffron, tobacco and frankincense. The statement bottle of the family.
  • Asad Zanzibar goes salty and tropical, with coconut water and incense.
  • Asad Polar goes cold and aromatic. The only one in the range you can wear comfortably in warm weather and the only genuinely fresh one.

If you are not sure which direction suits you, the Asad set of four is the cheapest way to try the family properly, or start with a 2ml sample of the original before committing to a full bottle.

Layering and styling

Polar is cold enough to take a little warmth underneath. A plain vanilla or amber worn first will round off the artemisia and push it towards the rest of the Asad family. Worn on its own it stays sharp and clean.

It pairs naturally with winter fabrics, where the fir balsam and cedar in the base cling and slowly release through the day.

Asad Polar FAQs

What does Asad Polar smell like?

Cold and aromatic. Artemisia, mandarin and blackcurrant open it with a herbal, slightly tart freshness, frosted pineapple and white lavender run through the middle, and fir balsam, cedarwood and dry amber give it a resinous evergreen base. Think alpine air rather than tropical fruit.

How is Asad Polar different from the original Asad?

They are close to opposites. The original is dark and spiced, built on black pepper, tobacco, coffee and amber for cold evenings. Polar is fresh and herbal, and it is the only Asad you can wear comfortably in warm weather.

Is Asad Polar long lasting?

Yes, for a fresh fragrance. The bright opening burns off within the first hour, as citrus always does, but the cedar, fir balsam and amber base stays close to the skin through the day and lasts noticeably longer on clothing.

Is Asad Polar unisex?

Lattafa present it as a masculine fragrance, but the aromatic fresh profile is far less gendered than the rest of the Asad range and wears comfortably on anyone who likes crisp, herbal, woody scents.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are your fragrances 100% genuine?
Yes. Every fragrance we sell is authentic, brand-new and factory-sealed, sourced from authorised suppliers. We never sell testers, refills or imitations — each bottle is batch-coded so you can verify it.
How fast is delivery?
We offer free tracked UK delivery on every order. Orders placed before 2pm on a working day are dispatched the same day, and typically arrive within 2–3 working days.
How long will the scent last?
Longevity varies by fragrance and skin type. You can see our guidance for this scent in the Fragrance Profile above — richer amber, oud and gourmand scents generally last longest, while fresh and citrus styles are lighter.
How should I store my perfume?
Keep it away from direct sunlight, heat and humidity — a cool, dark drawer or cupboard is ideal. Stored well, a sealed fragrance keeps its quality for years.
