Inspired By
Bujairami’s own listing states that Houdini is inspired by Louis Vuitton City of Stars. That is the manufacturer’s stated reference, published on their own site.
City of Stars was composed by Jacques Cavallier-Belletrud and launched in April 2022. Louis Vuitton do not wholesale their fragrances, so it is only available through their own boutiques and website, at many times this price. Houdini is £37.99.
What the original is built from. Fragrantica publish City of Stars as a five-citrus opening of blood orange, lime, blood mandarin, lemon and bergamot, over a single tiaré flower heart, on a base of powdery notes, musk and sandalwood. That structure, a stack of citrus falling into creamy tiaré and soft woods, is exactly what Houdini does, which is why it reads as a faithful interpretation rather than a loose one.
A matching structure is not a matching smell. City of Stars uses a brighter, more transparent citrus accord and its powdery drydown is finer. Houdini is creamier and sweeter in the second half, and the tiaré sits further forward. It is a close, well-made interpretation, not a substitute bottle.

The citrus wall is genuinely zesty: blood orange and lime give it a red, sunny warmth rather than a sharp edge. As it settles, the tiare brings a suncream-smooth floral creaminess over powdery sandalwood and musk.
Performance
Expect a bright, projecting first couple of hours and a soft, close dry-down through the rest of the day, helped along by the extrait strength. At its best from late spring to the end of summer. As with any fragrance, exact performance varies with skin type and weather.
