Description

Opulent Milano is the first properly green fragrance in Lattafa’s Opulent line, and it goes somewhere the range has not been. Where Opulent Oud and Opulent Dubai lean dark and resinous, Milano builds a rose on vetiver and rhubarb instead of amber and oud. Lattafa frame it as a garden in verde, hidden paths leading to unexpected discoveries, and for once the eau de parfum in the bottle matches the story on the box.

The scent, note by note

The opening is tart and bright. Blackcurrant gives a juicy, slightly sharp burst, lemon lifts it, and Timur pepper does the interesting work underneath. Timur is a Nepalese pepper with a pronounced grapefruit facet, so it reads citrus and spice at the same time rather than simply hot. The effect is vivid without being sweet.

The heart is where it earns the garden framing. Rose oil blooms into something closer to a courtyard bouquet than a single rose, and rhubarb is the clever addition: crisp, sour and vegetal, it stops the rose turning powdery or old-fashioned. Green notes run through the middle and keep everything leafy and damp rather than floral in the traditional sense.

Then it settles. Vetiver takes centre stage in the base, rooty and dry and faintly smoky, wrapped in cedarwood for structure. Dry amber adds a low warmth and cashmeran brings the soft woody hum that makes modern fragrances cling to fabric. The trail is where the word opulent finally applies.

How it wears

The citrus opening burns off within the first hour, as citrus always does. What follows is the rose and vetiver core, which stays close to the skin and lasts through the day, holding noticeably longer on clothing than on skin.

Projection is moderate rather than room-filling, which suits a green composition. Two sprays is plenty and one is often enough indoors.

Who it is for

Milano is unisex and genuinely so. Rose with vetiver underneath is one of the few structures that reads neither masculine nor feminine, and the rhubarb pulls it further from either.

It suits anyone who finds most rose fragrances too sweet or too powdery, and anyone who wants something with real character for daytime. If your usual choice is a fresh designer aromatic, this is a step sideways with more personality and better staying power.

Getting the best from it

Apply to the chest and the back of the neck rather than the wrists, where fragrance rubs off fastest. One spray on a scarf or jacket extends the wear considerably, and vetiver in particular clings to fabric.

Give a new bottle two to four weeks before judging it. Arabian fragrances commonly round out as they macerate, and the blackcurrant and pepper in the opening soften noticeably. Keep it stored properly, away from heat and light, to protect the citrus.

Where it sits in the Opulent range

The Opulent line has mostly gone dark. Milano is the exception.

  • Opulent Oud is the resinous one, built on agarwood and warmth.
  • Opulent Blue Oud cools that down with a fresher, aquatic edge over the same woody base.
  • Opulent Dubai is the sweetest and most traditionally Arabian of the line.
  • Opulent Milano is the green one, and the only member built around rose and vetiver rather than oud and amber.

If rose is what brought you here rather than the Opulent name, it is worth knowing this is a rose with dirt under its fingernails rather than a pretty one.

Layering and styling

Milano is dry enough to take sweetness underneath. A plain vanilla or amber worn first will round off the rhubarb and push it towards the rest of the Opulent family. Worn alone it stays green and sharp.

It works across seasons better than most of the range, since the vetiver base keeps it from feeling thin in cold weather while the citrus and green notes stop it being heavy in warm.

Opulent Milano FAQs

What does Opulent Milano smell like?

A green rose. Blackcurrant, Timur pepper and lemon open it tart and bright, rose oil and rhubarb form a crisp floral heart, and vetiver, cedarwood, dry amber and cashmeran give it a dry, rooty base. Leafy and damp rather than sweet.

Is Opulent Milano unisex?

Yes, and genuinely so. Rose over vetiver is one of the few structures that reads neither masculine nor feminine, and the rhubarb and green notes pull it further from either.

What is Timur pepper?

A pepper grown in Nepal with a strong grapefruit character. It reads as citrus and spice together rather than simply hot, which is why the opening feels bright rather than fiery.

How is it different from the rest of the Opulent range?

The others are built on oud, amber and warmth. Milano is built on rose, rhubarb and vetiver, which makes it the only green fragrance in the line and the most wearable in daylight.

Is Opulent Milano long lasting?

The citrus opening fades within the first hour, but the vetiver, cedarwood and amber base stays close to the skin through the day and lasts noticeably longer on clothing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are your fragrances 100% genuine?
Yes. Every fragrance we sell is authentic, brand-new and factory-sealed, sourced from authorised suppliers. We never sell testers, refills or imitations — each bottle is batch-coded so you can verify it.
How fast is delivery?
We offer free tracked UK delivery on every order. Orders placed before 2pm on a working day are dispatched the same day, and typically arrive within 2–3 working days.
How long will the scent last?
Longevity varies by fragrance and skin type. You can see our guidance for this scent in the Fragrance Profile above — richer amber, oud and gourmand scents generally last longest, while fresh and citrus styles are lighter.
How should I store my perfume?
Keep it away from direct sunlight, heat and humidity — a cool, dark drawer or cupboard is ideal. Stored well, a sealed fragrance keeps its quality for years.
