Teriaq Intense by Lattafa 100ml Eau De Parfum
Teriaq Intense is a spicy amber eau de parfum built on saffron, plum and cinnamon over tonka and benzoin. It is worth clearing up one thing immediately: this is not simply a stronger version of Lattafa’s Teriaq. The two share a name and a family resemblance, but they are separate compositions with different note lists. Teriaq Intense is darker, drier and more spice led, where the original is sweeter and more floral. Both are good. They are not interchangeable.
Fragrance notes
Top notes: bergamot, saffron
Heart notes: plum liquor, cinnamon
Base notes: tonka bean, amber, benzoin
This is the pyramid published by Lattafa. For comparison, the original Teriaq is built on pink pepper, caramel, bitter almond and apricot over white flowers, rose, rhubarb and honey, finishing on vanilla, musk, vetiver, labdanum and leather. There is no honey in Teriaq Intense, and no leather. If you have read a description that mentions either, it belongs to the other fragrance.
The perfumer
Lattafa credits Quentin Bisch as the perfumer behind Teriaq Intense, and names him as such in its own marketing copy and on its official social channels. That is unusual and genuinely notable. Bisch works for Givaudan and is one of the most decorated noses of his generation, with a body of work that runs across major luxury and niche houses. Independent perfumer credits are rare at this price point, and the fact that Lattafa is willing to put the name on the box says something about how the house sees this release.
What it smells like
The opening is warm and immediately spiced. Saffron leads and it is the defining material of the fragrance: leathery, slightly medicinal, a little sweet, with that distinctive dry metallic quality that saffron brings to Middle Eastern perfumery. Bergamot sits alongside it and takes the edge off, but it is a brief presence and it does not really refresh the opening so much as brighten it.
The heart is where it becomes interesting. Plum liquor is exactly what the name suggests, a boozy, jammy, dark stone fruit that reads more like a glass of something than a piece of fruit, and cinnamon adds a dry, dusty, warm spice on top of it. The combination of saffron, plum and cinnamon is rich without being sugary, and it has a slightly smoky, almost incense like quality even though there is no incense listed.
The base rounds everything off. Tonka bean brings its almond and hay sweetness, amber provides warmth and glow, and benzoin adds a resinous, vanillic, balsamic depth that ties the spices together. It finishes soft, warm and enveloping rather than sharp, and it stays recognisably itself from opening to dry down.
Longevity, projection and when to wear it
Lattafa eau de parfum concentrations are typically generous and this one behaves accordingly. Expect strong projection for the first two to three hours, settling into a warm skin scent that lasts well into the evening. Amber, benzoin and tonka are all long lasting materials, so the base does most of the heavy lifting.
This is an autumn and winter fragrance and it does not pretend otherwise. Cold weather suits the spices and the plum. Evening is its natural home, particularly for dinners, celebrations and formal occasions, though it is perfectly wearable in daytime during winter. It is too warm and too rich for hot weather.
Who will love it
Lattafa lists Teriaq Intense as unisex and it wears that way. The saffron and cinnamon give it a traditionally masculine dryness while the plum and tonka soften it, and neither side dominates.
It will appeal if you already like spicy amber fragrances and want one with a fruit element, if you enjoy saffron based Arabian perfumery, or if you like sweet fragrances but want something with more structure and less sugar. If you prefer fresh, citrus or aquatic scents, this is not the direction to go in.
About Lattafa
Lattafa Perfumes is a Sharjah based house in the United Arab Emirates and one of the most widely distributed Arabian fragrance brands anywhere. It made its name on generously dosed eau de parfum concentrations at prices the designer market cannot match, and it releases new fragrances several times a year. Teriaq Intense arrived in 2024. In the house’s own words, it is a fragrance that dares to be unapologetically unique, which is the sort of thing every brand says, but the Quentin Bisch credit gives it more weight than usual.
How to get the best from it
Two to three sprays will do. Apply to the neck and chest and to clothing if you want the trail to last, since amber and benzoin cling extremely well to fabric. Avoid rubbing the wrists together. Because the saffron opening is the sharpest part of the fragrance, give it twenty minutes before deciding what you think of it, as the plum and tonka take some time to come forward. Keep the bottle cool, upright and away from sunlight.
