Azure Intense is one of the more ambitious compositions Brandy has released, running seventeen published notes across a proper three-stage structure.

It opens on the fruit-and-citrus combination that has defined masculine perfumery for two decades. Bergamot, blackcurrant, apple and lemon together, with pink pepper adding a spicy sharpness that keeps the fruit from turning sweet.
The heart is unusually crowded and better for it. Pineapple continues the fruit, lavender and geranium bring aromatic and rosy-green facets, patchouli starts the descent into earthiness, and elemi adds a resinous, faintly citrus-pine quality that is not common at this price.
The base is where it earns its reputation. Birch gives it a smoky, slightly tarry edge, oakmoss brings classic chypre earthiness, and cedar, ambroxan, musk and labdanum round it out. Dry, smoky and long-lasting.

How it wears
Birch, oakmoss and labdanum are all persistent materials, and combined with ambroxan this projects well and lasts through a working day comfortably.
Year round. Fresh and fruity enough for warm weather, smoky and mossy enough underneath to make sense in autumn and winter.
Who it suits
Anyone who wants the fruity-smoky masculine style that has dominated the category since Aventus arrived. It is a crowd-pleaser and a safe daily wear.
If you want something in the same fresh register without the smoke, Haakim stays cleaner and drier. For the aquatic route, Diplomat goes marine instead.
