Goddess Of Love by Brandy: Pineapple, Iris and Musk
Goddess Of Love is a fruity floral with an unusual amount going on underneath. Pineapple opens it, juicy and tropical, with hyacinth adding a green, slightly watery floral note that keeps the fruit from reading as a cocktail.
The heart is the interesting part. Iris is an expensive, difficult material, powdery and cool with a faintly rooty quality, and it is not what you expect in a fragrance built on pineapple. Pink pepper adds spice and jasmine brings warmth, but the iris is what gives the middle its character.
The base is where it gets substantial. Musk, amber, vetiver, patchouli and vanilla together, five materials doing the work of grounding what began as a light fruity opening into something considerably deeper.

How it wears
The base does most of the heavy lifting here. Patchouli, vetiver and amber are all persistent, so despite the light opening this lasts considerably longer than a typical fruity floral.

Who it suits
Anyone who likes fruity florals but finds most of them insubstantial. The iris and the woody base give this a seriousness that the category usually lacks.
