By S B Shaheen, Fragrance Expert at Perfumeo. Last updated October 2026. Every note list below was checked against the brand’s own published pyramid before this went live.
Search for oud and you get lists written for men. Search for perfume for ladies and oud barely appears. That gap is the reason this page exists, because oud is not a masculine note and never has been. In the Gulf it is worn by everyone, and the rose and oud pairing in particular is about as feminine a combination as Arabian perfumery produces.
What follows is ten oud fragrances we stock that a woman is actually the intended wearer of, ranked. Every one of them has agarwood in the formula. That sounds like a low bar until you learn how many do not.
A warning about the word oud
Before the list, something worth knowing, because it will save you money.
Oud is the most expensive raw material in perfumery. It is also the most frequently claimed. When we checked the published note lists across our own catalogue against the brands’ own pyramids, we found fragrances with Oud in the name that contain no agarwood whatsoever. Not a trace element, not a synthetic approximation. Nothing.
This is not unique to any one house and it is not usually dishonesty. Oud has become a style descriptor as much as an ingredient, a shorthand for warm, dark and resinous, and the marketing follows the shorthand rather than the formula. But if you are paying for oud, you should know whether you are getting it.
Every fragrance below contains real agarwood. Where a composition is doing something unexpected with it, we say so.

1. Lattafa Badee Al Oud Amethyst
The one to start with, and the one most women end up keeping.
Amethyst is a berry-rose oud, and the berry is what makes it work. It opens on pink pepper and bergamot, which gives a brief peppery brightness, then the roses arrive and they arrive properly. Turkish and Bulgarian rose together produce something jammy and deep rather than fresh and green, closer to rose preserve than a rose garden.
The agarwood sits underneath rather than on top. It is smooth, slightly sweet, and it never goes in the medicinal direction that puts people off traditional oud. Vanilla in the base softens it further. The result is an oud you can wear to an office.
If you have never worn oud before, this is the least intimidating entry point we stock, and it is the reason it tops this list rather than anything more serious further down. Badee Al Oud Amethyst is in stock in the 100ml eau de parfum.

2. Riiffs Momento Liquid Gold
The most luxurious-smelling thing on this list, and an extrait rather than an eau de parfum.
Saffron and rose and oud is the classic Arabian triangle, and Momento Liquid Gold executes it with more polish than its price suggests. Saffron opens leathery and honeyed, mandarin lifts it, and then Damask rose and agarwood take the centre with tonka keeping the edges soft.
The dry-down is where the extrait concentration earns itself. Amberwood and caramel with cedar underneath, glowing rather than loud, and it is still faintly there the following morning. The oud here is polished rather than smoky, which is a deliberate choice and the right one for this composition.
Wear it in autumn and winter, to dinners and evenings. Momento Liquid Gold is in stock in the 100ml extrait.

3. French Avenue Divin Aoud
The showpiece, and the most complex formula on this page by a distance.
Divin Aoud opens deceptively bright on lemon, lime and bergamot, then blooms into a full floral heart of rose, ylang-ylang, jasmine and fig. If it stopped there it would be a pleasant floral. It does not stop there.
The base is where this lives, and it is unusually populated: agarwood, ambergris and a whisper of civet give it a genuinely animalic depth, with saffron glowing over sandalwood and oakmoss. That civet is the detail that separates it from everything else here. It is the quality that makes expensive perfume smell expensive, and it is very rarely found at this end of the market.
Worth knowing: shortened note lists for this fragrance circulate widely, including ones that drop the agarwood entirely. The full base is twelve notes deep. Divin Aoud is in stock in the 100ml eau de parfum.
4. Ahmed Al Maghribi Oud and Roses
The name tells you the composition and the composition delivers it, which is rarer than it should be.
Turkish rose opens alongside lemon, peony and lavender, so the entry is brighter and more floral than most rose ouds manage. The heart brings sandalwood, white florals and frankincense, and the frankincense is the making of it, adding a cool resinous incense quality that keeps the rose from turning sweet.
Agarwood, guaiac wood, oakmoss, amber and musk close it. Deep without being heavy, and the oud is clearly present rather than implied.
This is the most traditionally Arabian fragrance in the top five, and the one that will feel most familiar if you grew up around Gulf perfumery. Oud and Roses is in stock in the 60ml eau de parfum.
5. Asdaaf Ameerat Al Arab
The quiet one, and the best choice if the rest of this list sounds like too much.
Ameerat Al Arab means Princess of Arabia, and it is built the opposite way round to everything else here. Citrus and bergamot open it, white musk and aloe vera form a soft, skin-like heart, and the oud arrives last and lightly, alongside jasmine and soft woods.
The oud is a whisper rather than a statement. That is the point. If you want the Arabian character without the weight, or you work somewhere a full oud would be inconsiderate, this is the one. It is also the gentlest introduction on this page for someone who has tried oud before and found it overwhelming.
Ameerat Al Arab is in stock in the 100ml eau de parfum, and there is a 50ml travel size if you want to try it first.
6. Ahmed Al Maghribi Marj
The most complicated fragrance here, and the one that rewards patience.
Marj opens on bergamot, tangerine, pink pepper and nutmeg, bright and spiced at once. The heart is a full bouquet, rose, jasmine, orange blossom, saffron, cinnamon and cashmere wood, and it takes a good half hour to settle into itself.
The base is the reason to buy it: oud and leather together, with amber, musk and sandalwood, and unexpected touches of pear, raspberry and violet threading through. That fruit in a leather-oud base is an odd idea on paper and a very good one on skin.
Not a beginner’s fragrance. Buy it once you know you like oud. Marj is in stock in the 60ml eau de parfum.
7. Brandy Designs Prestige Amber Rose
The one with the misleading name, and we would rather tell you than let you find out.
There is no rose in Amber Rose. The pyramid runs oud, honey, pink pepper and elemi on top, cashmere, saffron, orange blossom and jasmine through the heart, and agarwood, ambergris, oakmoss and leather at the base. Orange blossom and jasmine do the floral work the name implies, but rose itself is absent.
What you actually get is a honeyed oud with real leather underneath, and it is good. The honey and oud together in the opening is an unusual pairing and it gives the first hour a sticky, resinous richness that nothing else here has.
Buy it for what it is rather than what it is called. Amber Rose is in stock in the 100ml.

8. Ahmed Al Maghribi Bloom Spectrum
The freshest oud on this list, and the only one that opens herbal.
Bergamot, lavender and basil is not how oud fragrances usually begin. It gives Bloom Spectrum a green, almost aromatic entry that reads far lighter than the base suggests. Rose and jasmine form the heart, and then oud, vetiver and amber arrive and the fragrance reveals what it actually is.
That contrast between a fresh opening and a woody oud base is the whole character. It makes this the most wearable oud here in warm weather, and the best choice if you want oud in spring rather than only in December.
Bloom Spectrum is in stock in the 100ml eau de parfum.
9. Brandy Designs Rose Oud
The straightforward one, and sometimes that is exactly what you want.
Rose, bergamot and saffron open it, oud and patchouli with geranium form the heart, and amber, sandalwood, musk and vanilla finish it. No tricks, no unusual materials, no surprises in the dry-down. It is a rose oud that does what a rose oud should.
One honest caveat: Brandy Designs publish their own note lists and there is little independent information available on this one, so we are relying on the house’s own pyramid rather than cross-checking it against another source as we have with the rest. We would rather say that than imply a level of verification we do not have.
Rose Oud is in stock in the 100ml eau de parfum.

10. Ard Al Zaafaran Dirham Oud
The one to buy if you are not sure yet.
Dirham Oud is the most affordable entry on this list and the lowest-risk way to find out whether oud suits you. Citrus, bergamot and raspberry open it, which is brighter and fruitier than most oud openings, and sandalwood, rose and lavender follow.
Agarwood sits in the base with amber, white musk and cedar. It is softer and less assertive than the ouds above it, which is partly concentration and partly intent. Nobody will mistake it for a niche fragrance, but it is a genuine oud rather than an oud-flavoured impression, and that is the whole point of including it.
Treat it as a sample bottle you happen to get 100ml of. Dirham Oud is in stock in the 100ml eau de parfum.
How to choose between them
If this is your first oud: Badee Al Oud Amethyst, or Dirham Oud if you want to spend less finding out.
If you want oud for the office: Ameerat Al Arab, where the oud is a whisper, or Bloom Spectrum for its fresh opening.
If you want to smell expensive: Momento Liquid Gold or Divin Aoud. Both punch well above where they sit.
If you already love oud and want depth: Marj, then Oud and Roses.
If you want warm weather oud: Bloom Spectrum. Most of the others are built for cold evenings.
Why rose and oud works so well
Almost every fragrance on this list pairs oud with rose, and that is not coincidence or laziness.
Agarwood is dense, resinous and faintly animalic. On its own it can read austere, even medicinal, which is why unaccompanied oud divides opinion so sharply. Rose does something specific to it: the sweetness and the slight sourness of rose cut through the resin, and the oud in return gives the rose a weight it cannot generate alone. Neither note is improved by anything else in quite the same way.
The pairing is centuries old in Gulf perfumery and it remains the most reliable way to make oud wearable for someone who is not already converted. If you try one fragrance from this page and it does not work, try another rose oud before concluding oud is not for you. The variable is usually the supporting cast, not the agarwood.
Buying genuine oud
Real agarwood is expensive enough that counterfeits are worth making, and oud fragrances are faked more often than most.
Two checks are worth running on any bottle. The batch code on the base should match the code printed on the box and should be cleanly etched rather than printed on a sticker that lifts at the edge. And the atomiser should deliver a fine, even mist rather than a wet jet, because cheap pumps are the first corner a counterfeiter cuts.
A fake will also typically collapse within an hour or two, which is the opposite of what oud is known for. If a bottle fades that fast and everything else checks out, authenticity is the thing to question.

Frequently asked questions
Is oud a masculine fragrance?
No. Oud is worn by men and women equally across the Gulf and always has been. The idea that it is masculine is a Western retail convention rather than anything to do with the material. Rose and oud in particular is one of the most feminine combinations in Arabian perfumery.
What is the best Arabian oud perfume for ladies?
Lattafa Badee Al Oud Amethyst for most people, because the berry and rose make the oud approachable without hiding it. If you want something more serious, Riiffs Momento Liquid Gold at extrait strength, and if you want something quieter, Asdaaf Ameerat Al Arab.
Do all oud perfumes actually contain oud?
No, and this is worth knowing before you buy. Oud has become a style descriptor as much as an ingredient, and plenty of fragrances carry it in the name without any agarwood in the formula. Every fragrance on this page contains real agarwood, checked against the brand’s own published notes.
Which oud perfume lasts the longest?
The extraits, so Momento Liquid Gold first. Concentration is the main driver, and oud and amber bases are naturally tenacious. All of these last longer on fabric than on skin.
Is oud suitable for summer?
Some of it. Bloom Spectrum opens on bergamot, lavender and basil and wears well in warm weather. Most of the others are built for autumn and winter evenings, and heat will amplify them considerably. If you wear a heavier oud in summer, use one spray rather than three.
What does oud smell like?
Deep, woody and resinous, with an earthy, slightly sweet quality and sometimes a smoky or leathery edge. It comes from agarwood, a resin that forms inside Aquilaria trees in response to a specific mould. Our guide to what oud actually smells like goes into it properly.
Is oud the same as agarwood?
Yes. Oud, oudh, agarwood and dehn al oud all refer to the same material, which is why note lists use the terms interchangeably. Seeing agarwood rather than oud on a pyramid is not a sign of a lesser ingredient.
Where to go next
If you want the wider picture rather than the women’s cut, our guide to the best oud perfumes in the UK ranks the range as a whole. For non-oud options, the best Lattafa perfumes for ladies covers the sweeter and floral end, and our guide to oud as a note explains the material itself.
Everything on this page is in stock at the time of writing in our women’s perfumes and oud and woody collections.
